On Sunday Matt shared with the adults from Matthew 2, where we discover some amazing truths about Jesus and that He is worthy of our worship. But Matthew 2 also forces us to ask how we will respond to Him, will we be a monarch (like Herod) and want the throne for ourselves? Or will be Magi, those who will commit our lives to the journey of the praise of Jesus!?

On Sunday, Matt took us to the book of Ephesians. Ephesians tells us that we were dead in our sins. It’s a reality that we’ve all felt, life without hope or peace, life filled with brokenness and pain. Yet Paul, the writer, also tells us that there is another reality, one with blessing, freedom, forgiveness, wholeness and joy. It’s a reality that’s only found in Jesus and Paul tells us that the amazing news is that it’s a reality that God predestined for us in Jesus - a way for all humanity to be made new.

🎵 Rain came, wind blew, our house is built on You 🙌

On Sunday, Matt shared with us from Romans 12:1-2, looking at how in view of what Jesus has done for us on the cross we are invited to spend our lives now being with Him, learning from Him and becoming like Him.

We looked at the same passage of scripture in Children's Church and Youth Church too!

Our young people talked about what "patterns of this world" we might feel pressured to follow, and how God's Spirit transforms the way we think. Our children talked about how it sometimes takes courage to stand up for Jesus, and how the Holy Spirit helps us be brave for Him 🙌

📖 On Sunday Glenys shared with us from Romans 4 looking at the hope we have as Christians. Not hope like the worlds hope, a vague wish that something might happen. But biblical hope, a hope that is confident in what will be because of who our God is.

Sunday, 10.30am, Oasis Academy John Williams in South Bristol. We'll be there!

📖 On Sunday, Ann-See shared with us from 2 Corinthians. She shared how Paul was able to be honest with the church about his struggles in life because he had discovered what it meant to live unveiled before Jesus. And she shared with us how Jesus calls us to come as we are and allow Him to lift the veils we often hide behind so that we too can come face to face with Him, the one who loves us.

🚸 On Sunday in Children’s Church we read 2 Corinthians 3. We were learning that Jesus has come to remove the veil so that we can know Him fully and reflect His glory in our lives. We have the Holy Spirit who brings us freedom.

The Children used torches (in the dark!) and put veils over their faces just like Moses in the Old Testament. We talked about how Jesus came to remove the veil so that we have freedom by the Holy Spirit. The children made mirrors to remind them that they reflect Jesus in their own lives.

😎 In Youth church, we talked about how our faith is grounded in the resurrection of Jesus and how this gives us hope and strength even when life feels difficult. We read from 1 Corinthians 15 and 2 Corinthians 4 and discussed what Paul means when he calls us “jars of clay”. We talked about God choosing to show His power through our weakness, and thought about times when life feels overwhelming... what difference does it make to know that “our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us eternal glory”?

POV: You had a hard day at school but you head to youth homegroup to talk about Jesus and play the most intense game of Mafia you've ever played ✌️

🚸 On Sunday, Children’s Church looked at 1 Corinthians 13 and we learnt what the Bible says about love; how it can be hard to love others and three only way we can do that is to recieve love from God first. God’s love for us is perfect - and we take our example of how to love from Him.

The children enjoyed a water activity where we used empty cups and filled them from a big jug of water. When we are filled with God’s love it overflows out of us and onto others. The children decorated paper cups with our key verses, and we had a special ministry time where we spent time in God’s presence and responded to his love for us.🚰

Youth Church dove into 1 Corinthians 12!
👃👁️🖐️🦵We ran in a body part relay, and talked about what Paul meant when he said we are all parts of one body in Christ.

We discovered that the Word says that without love, even great gifts or actions don’t matter, and we talked about how love can guide the way we use our different gifts as one body ❤️

On Sunday, Andy shared with us from 1 Corinthians about how God’s wisdom is very different to man’s wisdom and how, very often, God’s ways can seem like foolishness. We then explored how God reveals His wisdom by His Spirit and invites us into a revelation of what Jesus has done for us, whilst also considering how we live in the good of it. 📖

🚸 In Children's Church on Sunday we read 1 Corinthians 3. We were learning about the letter that Paul wrote to church at Corinth. We learned that Jesus is the foundation that the church is built on - and we are the bricks that fit together to make the church! We are all different, but when we come together we are part of God’s family.

The children completed some challenges where they had to work together as part of a big team! The younger children used some toy figures to describe their families, and the older children read the verses in the bible and talked about how we can build each other up. We made some paper people to represent ourselves and then placed them together as a sign of unity and togetherness. We sang the song The Blessing over each other, and over the paper figures which represented our church.

👉 Talking points
· Spend some time with your child talking about your family - about the different people who make it up, and the strengths you have when you are together.

· Take time to pray for your family, but also to pray for the wider church too. Ask God to bless the different generations of people that make up our church, and pray for Pastor Matt and the leadership team too.

📖 Galatians - One True Gospel 📖

Today we explored Paul's letter to the Galatians. Paul writes to them because, having put their faith in Jesus alone to save them, there were now some people trying to deceive them and tell them that Jesus alone wasn’t enough and they needed to do more. Paul says that this is not true, and in fact is no gospel (good news) at all. On Sunday Matt walked us through some modern day versions of this false gospel “Jesus + something else” in order to be really saved. We discovered that what Paul says to the Galatians is still true today, that Jesus' death and resurrection alone is the good news for us, Jesus has saved us, and He alone is our hope.

In Children’s Church on Sunday we read Galatians 5:16-23. We were learning about the fruits of the Spirit. 🍊🍎🍋🍉

We thought about the difference between living for ourselves and living by the Spirit.

The children had a great time playing a fruits of the spirit themed parachute game! We also drew fruit trees and stuck on different types of fruit, asking God what fruit he wants to grow in our lives. We then had a special time where we split into pairs and the children prayed specifically for each other, that the Spirit would fill them so that they are ready to grow in the fruit that he has planted in them.

👉 Talking points: ask your child which fruits they felt that God wanted to grow more in their life. Share with your child the fruits that you have seen God grow in your life over the years.
